Everything you need to know about training, tuition, competitions, and studio life at Catalyst Dance Company.
Attendance & Commitment
Dancers are expected to attend all scheduled classes. Missed classes cannot be made up or refunded. Consistent attendance is essential for team progress — frequent absences may impact routine formations, performance readiness, and competition participation.
Yes. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled before competitions or performances. These are mandatory for all team members. Dates will be communicated as far in advance as possible.
Please notify the studio as early as possible. Extended absences may affect placement in routines at the discretion of the choreographer. We ask that families plan vacations around the competition schedule whenever possible.
Most competitive dancers train between 4–6+ hours per week depending on age and level. This includes technique classes, rehearsals, and any additional training sessions scheduled throughout the season.
Tuition & Fees
Tuition is structured by company level:
Mini Company — $245/month base · $265/month unlimited
Petite / Junior Company — $275/month base · $305/month unlimited
Teen / Senior Company — $315/month base · $345/month unlimited
All levels include required weekly training classes. The unlimited upgrade adds access to additional open training sessions.
Tuition is billed monthly via auto-pay and due on the 1st of each month. Late fees may apply after the 10th. Tuition reflects your commitment to training, not attendance — missed classes are not refunded.
We accept credit/debit cards and ACH bank transfers through our online portal. Cash and checks are not accepted. All payments are processed securely through Studio Pro.
Yes! Families with multiple dancers enrolled receive a 10% discount on the second dancer's tuition. This discount is applied automatically at enrollment. Contact us if you have any questions about how this applies to your family.
In addition to tuition, families should plan for the following expenses throughout the season:
Competition entry fees
Costumes (billed in the fall — non-refundable once ordered)
Team apparel
Convention fees (if applicable, based on age and level)
Travel and hotel for away competitions
Out-of-state Nationals expenses (end of season)
A full fee schedule is provided at the start of each season. All timelines are communicated in advance whenever possible.
Yes. Payment plans are available for larger expenses like competition fees and costumes. Please contact the studio manager at info@catalystdancekc.com to arrange a plan that works for your family.
The following are generally non-refundable once committed:
Registration fees
Tuition already billed
Costumes (once ordered)
Competition entry fees
Team apparel
We are always open to discussing unique situations when needed. Reach out directly and we'll do our best to work with you.
Competitions & Season
The 2026–2027 season includes 3 Regional Competitions and 1 Out-of-State Nationals at the end of the season. We intentionally limit the number of competitions to allow time for real improvement between events, avoid burnout, and maintain excitement throughout the season.
Competitive dancers are expected to commit to:
Weekly technique classes
All scheduled rehearsals
All competition weekends
Team performances
Consistency plays a major role in both individual growth and team success. The season runs September through June.
Call times will be shared in advance before each competition. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your dancer's scheduled warm-up. Specific arrival instructions will be sent via email through the studio app.
Costume fees are billed in the fall semester and are non-refundable once ordered. Exact dates will be communicated via email. Costumes are generally not reused between seasons — new choreography requires new costumes each season to maintain a cohesive team look.
Specific hair and makeup guidelines will be provided before each competition. A uniform look is required for all team members. Guidelines are shared via email well in advance so families have time to prepare.
Studio Etiquette & Dress Code
Yes. Dancers must wear the assigned team leotard or approved dancewear. Hair must be secured in a bun unless otherwise directed. Specific requirements may vary by class style — a full list is provided at registration.
Required shoes vary by class style. A full list is provided at registration. All shoes must be clean and used indoors only. Please do not wear dance shoes outside as this damages both the shoes and the studio floor.
No. All jewelry must be removed before entering the studio for safety reasons. This includes earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings. Small stud earrings may be acceptable at instructor discretion for certain classes.
We have designated parent viewing weeks scheduled throughout the season. Outside of those weeks, we ask that parents remain in the lobby area to minimize distractions and allow dancers to focus. Viewing week dates will be announced each semester.
We are committed to maintaining a welcoming and encouraging environment. We ask all families to avoid:
Gossip or negativity about other dancers, families, or staff
Disruptive behavior in or around the studio
Negative social media activity related to the studio
If concerns arise, we encourage direct and respectful communication so they can be addressed appropriately. Our door is always open.
Communication
All official communication comes through email and the Studio Pro app. Please check both regularly. Important announcements, schedule changes, competition details, and billing notices will all be sent through these channels.
General questions — reach out to the front desk or your dancer's instructor directly
Please schedule a meeting or send an email rather than approaching instructors during class time — this allows them to stay focused on teaching your dancer.
We welcome open communication. Please schedule a meeting or send an email to discuss any concerns. We ask that all communication remains respectful and constructive — the best outcomes happen when families and staff approach situations as partners working toward the same goal.
Yes. Catalyst uses Studio Pro (MyApp-Pro) for class management, scheduling, billing, and communications. After enrollment you'll receive an invitation to set up your parent portal account. Download the app on iOS or Android and check it regularly for updates.
